One of the positive responses to climate change at the global scale is the establishment of the Kyoto Protocol which obliges developed nations to reduce their collective greenhouse gas emissions by 5.2% from 1990 levels by 2012. It includes flexible mechanisms such as Emissions Trading, the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and Joint Implementation to allow Annex I economies to meet their greenhouse gas emission limitations by buying emission reduction credits from elsewhere.

PowerSeraya is proud to be investing in a new 800MW combined-cycle power plant (CCPP) which will deliver future CO2 emissions of about 10% below current levels. We are in the process of registering this new plant as a CDM project which would then deliver sustainable outcomes for Singapore.
